Udhayanidhi Stalin Blasts Vijay Govt: 'Dummy CM, Cabinet of Jokers'

A protest demonstration was held today in front of the Panagal Building in Thanjavur on behalf of the DMK, condemning the TVK government for failing to stop the Mekedatu dam construction and demanding that the Delta districts be declared drought-affected. The protest was led by Udhayanidhi Stalin, leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and DMK Youth Wing Secretary. Chief Secretary and Deputy Opposition Leader K.N. Nehru welcomed and addressed the gathering.

Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin spoke at the protest:

"The dummy chief minister is responsible for the damage to the Kuruvai crop. Even as farmers suffer, Chief Minister Vijay has not opened his mouth. Today is the 18th day of the Aadi month — on this day of Aadi Perukku, the rivers should be brimming with water. But the Delta region is completely dry without water. Would this situation have arisen if DMK had been in power?

"This situation has been inflicted on Tamil Nadu by a dummy chief minister who lacks administrative capability. Never mind meeting the Karnataka chief minister — has CM Vijay even met our own farmers? The Karnataka chief minister has already told Vijay not to bother visiting. Three months into governance, Vijay hasn't had the courage to even utter the word 'BJP.' He has no spine to speak against the Congress government in Karnataka. The Tamil Nadu government has not taken appropriate action on the Cauvery issue.

"While farmers are in tears, ministers are going to the cinema and shedding tears there. Whenever a problem arises, they busy themselves diverting attention. Every day at 4 PM, Chief Minister Vijay posts a reel to change the subject. The rulers may not care about releasing water, but DMK is fighting on the ground for the people. DMK has launched a legal battle on the Cauvery issue and filed a case in the Supreme Court.

"Agriculture Minister Vinoth performed a puja with the Tamil Nadu agricultural budget at the Tirupati temple. All Tamil Nadu ministers are fixated only on posting reels. Water Resources Minister Anand runs away from reporters like a thief. In the cabinet you have a minister who sold 'theft lottery,' a minister who sold pirated VCDs and black-market tickets, a minister who roams around with drugs — it's a whole cabinet of jokers.

"The brothers of ministers are going on 'official inspections.' The officials themselves don't know who the actual ministers are. The chief minister himself doesn't know who his ministers are. The CM posts reels, the ministers post reels, the MLAs post reels — they are all wandering around posting reels, even in restrooms. This government has a reel addiction. Tamil Nadu has never seen such a reel-obsessed, rotten government.

"Chief Minister Vijay visits and 'inspects' the Metro Rail bridge built during DMK's tenure and posts reels about it. He keeps doing inspections of schemes brought in under DMK's rule. With the Cauvery crisis at its peak, Vijay is busy creating reel content — making sweets with someone else's ghee. He says he wants to be born a farmer in his next life; why not start now?

"Farmers are the most affected under the TVK government. Vijay degraded farmers by claiming that DMK was instigating them to protest. Karnataka is exploiting this weak government in Tamil Nadu and pushing ahead with the Mekedatu dam."

He concluded with chants: "Open your mouth… Open your mouth… Wake up, Chief Minister sleeping on the Mekedatu issue — open your mouth… Do you not understand… Do you not understand… the suffering of farmers… Do you not understand…"
